Congratulations to Professor Rob Ritchie, who has been elected as a foreign member of the Fellows of the Royal Society. Professor Ritchie was one of 10 new foreign members to receive this prestigious recognition this year. Rob is recognized for his "research into the mechanics and micro-mechanisms of fracture and fatigue of a broad range of structural and biological materials, where he has provided a microstructural basis for their damage-tolerance and fatigue resistance." This is an extremely prestigious honor for Rob, and adds to many other awards including membership in the NAE, Royal Academy of Engineering, Russian Academy of Sciences and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.
