MSE Stands in Solidarity with our Black Community

The MSE department supports the statements of Chancellor Carol Christ and Vice Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion Oscar Dubón Jr. sent to the campus community on Friday, May 29th. We stand in solidarity with our Black community and all who are suffering. We are a community and a family, let’s support each other and uphold our principles of community. We are stronger together.

The health and well-being of our community is important to us and we would like to share some helpful resources listed on the Tang Center's counseling website and the Tang Center's Black Lives Matter webpage.  These websites cover a wide range of available services from individual counseling drop-in consultations to counseling groups to healing and ally resources.

In addition, there are other resources on campus to be aware of:

  • Student Organizations: Our campus has numerous and diverse student organizations that students may wish to get involved in. You can explore at callink.berkeley.edu.
  • Centers for Educational Justice & Community Engagement: These centers provide space, programs, and services for Berkeley’s diverse student communities. Learn more at ejce.berkeley.edu/mcc or (510) 642-6528.
  • Reporting: For information and support on reporting hate crimes or hate-motivated acts, visit stophate.berkeley.edu.

We encourage you to take care of yourselves and check in with your peers and colleagues and offer to listen, talk, empathize, and provide support to each other. As the Chancellor states "we stand together".
